long Nutmeg (Pala Panjang)

What is long nutmeg?

Derived from the seed of the native Indonesian evergreen tree Myristica Argentea, nutmeg is a spice renowned
for its distinctive flavour. Also grown in Papua, long nutmeg is harvested from within dense rainforests.

Nuttier and creamier than the more commonly known round nutmeg, it is also accompanied by its counterpart, mace, which is the red, delicate covering that envelops the seed.

Nutmeg offers a milder and sweeter taste compared to mace, which carries a spicier profile reminiscent of a
blend of pepper and cinnamon. While both spices grow together, they are typically used separately in recipes.

Flavour

Long nutmeg has a rich and nutty essence, complemented by subtle sweetness. Its intense aroma and robust flavour make it a standout spice. Those with a more sensitive palate might detect a hint of spiciness in this exquisite ingredient.
