Nutmeg (Pala)

What is nutmeg?

Derived from the seed of the native Indonesian evergreen tree Myristica fragrans, nutmeg is a spice renowned
for its distinctive flavour. It is accompanied by its counterpart, mace, which is the red, delicate covering that

envelops the seed.

Nutmeg offers a milder and sweeter taste compared to mace, which carries a spicier profile reminiscent of a
blend of pepper and cinnamon. While both spices grow together, they are typically used separately in recipes.

Flavour

Nutmeg has a rich and nutty essence, complemented by subtle sweetness. Its intense aroma and robust flavour
make it a standout spice. Those with a more sensitive palate might detect a hint of spiciness in this exquisite

ingredient.
